Manifesto

A living animal is not a SKU. Two frags cut from the same colony, grown under different light, become different animals within a year — different colour, different shape, different value. Selling them as one type is a convenience for the seller and a loss for everyone else.

So we number individuals, not products. The number is issued once and never reissued: if we deleted an animal and let its number pass to another, every label, QR code and bookmark carrying it would quietly start pointing at something else. That is why the count of animals and the count of issued numbers are two separate facts here, and why the second only ever goes up.

The record outlives the sale for the same reason. A page that disappears when the animal is sold breaks every link ever handed out for it, and takes with it the one thing that made the sale trustworthy — the evidence.
