Origin & Traceability
Where an animal came from is part of what it is.
Where an animal came from is written into its record on the day it enters the system, not reconstructed afterwards from whatever anyone remembers.
Cut or acquired, and the record says which
A frag comes off a mother colony, or a colony enters the system. Either way it is numbered that day, and the origin, the parent colony and the dates are written into the record before anything else happens to it.
Aquacultured is a statement of fact
The word means what the glossary says it means: grown in a tank from a piece of another tank-grown animal. It appears on a record when that is what happened, and not as a description of how we would like the animal to be seen.
Dates, not adjectives
The acquisition date is on the page, and so is the date it was photographed. A claim about provenance that cannot be pinned to a date is an impression, and impressions are what this standard exists to replace.
What this means in practice
