Aquacultured, maricultured, wild
Three words the trade uses loosely, and what each one actually costs.
Aquacultured means grown in a tank from a piece of another tank-grown animal. It has never known anything but captive light, flow and food, which is most of why it survives the move to yours.
Maricultured means grown on the reef, usually on a frame, from a wild fragment. It is a real conservation model and a real supply chain, and it is not the same thing as aquacultured however the listing is worded.
Wild-collected means taken. There are defensible cases for it and we do not deal in them; every animal on this site is the first kind.
